Great for old Hardwood floors, April 11, 2009
This review is from: Minwax 60950 32-Ounce High Gloss Reviver Hardwood Floor Restorer (Tools & Home Improvement)

If you have older hardwood floors ( not the newer sealed hardwood) this product is great. The one with low gloss was good but I needed to put two coats. The high gloss one only take one coat and it looks great. My floors are very old and the finish is practically off of it. I used this product as a last ditch effort and it has saved my floor.I do it one a year and then top it with some Preen polisher. It lasts all year. This is the third year I have used it and to tell you the truth it didn’t really need it this year as it still looked good. I can understand why the user that used it on the prefinished hardwood floor would have a problem with it. It should have stated it on it’s label but it does now I believe. I think I remember reading that on the label.

First off make sure you pay attention to the bad reviews here …THIS ITEM IS FOR OLD HARDWOOD THAT STILL HAS A FINISH..DO NOT USE IT ON NEW MANUFACTURED FLOORS. NOW FOR MY 5 STAR REVIEW. I remodeled my 60 year old home back in 2006 and wanted to keep some of the old elements. I have a random width pumpkin pine floor with pegs that was definitely showing signs of wear. I decided to save money and go online and had [...] come out and refinish my floors without sanding. They did beautifull work and my floors looked fantastic for about a year before they started dulling again. The price to have them do the entire first floor of my home was just over 500 dollars. I recently discovered this product and decided to give it a try…2 bottles covered the entire first floor of my home and the results are just as good as what i paid [...] 500 + dollars to do. My cost for same results….30 dollars….FANTASTIC

This review is from: Meguiar’s W8006 6.5-Inch Soft Buff Foam Polishing Pad (Automotive)

I purchased and used these foam pads with my orbital sander machine and they worked great and did a fabulous job a polishing my boat. The small problem is how it attached to my orbital sander backing pad, which is a hook & loop type (Velcro). The backing of the foam pad is made for this type of attachment, but has a small fiber profile. The fibers should be larger and more aggressive for better holding power to the machine. After a short while of use, the foam pad would fly off the machine when I let go of the trigger and moved away from the surface I was polishing. I managed to finish the job by holding the machine and foam pad against the surface until it came to a full stop before removing the machine away. I never have this problem when using sanding disks.

Turns $35 Ryobi Orbital Buffer into pro tool!, January 16, 2011

This review is from: Meguiar’s W8006 6.5-Inch Soft Buff Foam Polishing Pad (Automotive)

After reading a ‘how-to’ in a GM high-tech magazine about converting a Ryobi orbital buffer into a professional quality hook-and-loop buffer, I decided to do the project and use Meg’s pads for my first try. First, of all you don’t need an expensive backing plate or even a ‘pro’ level tool to effectively use these pads – I simply attached industrial-level hook and loop strips to the foam backing plate of my Ryobi, trimmed to fit, and was suddenly in the possession of an effective, pro-level orbital buffer. The Meg’s polishing pads fit like a dream, stayed on super tight, and performed as advertised. Using Meg’s M205, I was able to create significant paint corrections while creating an unbelievably glossy finish (with this combo of tools). The Ryobi spins at 4200 rpm steady, and speed decreases as you press harder, so it is difficult for a beginner to harm the paint while at the same time creating significant results.

I was amazed at how well they worked. And they cleaned up easy with naturla dish detergent, and dried like a breeze in 20 minutes on low in my dryer.

So folks, there is no need to buy an expensive random orbital, or even Meg’s own orbital to do a pro-level job – a $35 ryobo orbital + industrial velcro + meg’s pads will perform at a 90% level of those same super-expensive pro tools – buy the ryobi, do the conversion and get the Meg’s pad’s and you’ll be one happy camper with a lot more money left in your pocket.

I wanted to remove swirls from 15 year old black paint that also had scratches all over. I started using the Meguiars system by hand with disappointing results considering I spent all day working on it. I then did some research on Meguiars Dual Action Polisher and found that results are better. I tried this pad with the polisher with great results. This pad held up nicely the whole time I worked on the car even after several washings when I changed products. When the car was finished all swirls were gone and only deeper scratches where left. The pad held up well only with a small amount of wear on the edge of the pad. If you need to do paint correction this is the best pad to remove swirls with no damage to your paint. I highly recomend this pad.
